DUKOVREEDS has been making bassoon reed blanks for 12 years and for those 12 years we have evolved a lot and managed to show consistency and quality at very affordable prices. Today we produce not only bassoon reed blanks but also bassoon canes, profiled and shaped canes and bassoon reeds.
We love what we do and we love challenging ourselves, I guess this is our secret sauce.
AND IT ALL STARTED WITH ...
2008 THE HOBBY
In the beginning, bassoon reed making was just a hobby, a way to relax and in the same time engage with something that was bringing satisfaction and enjoyment.
2009 THE FIRST QUALITY BASSOON REED BLANKS
Soon the positive feedback came and the idea of extending the hobby to something more started making its way.
Of course we had doubts and maybe a bit of fear but decided we need to give it a shot since it was something that was bringing pleasure to us and at the same time was making people happy.
2010 PROFILING & SHAPING
In order to be able to produce bassoon reed blanks at an affordable price we realized that we need to get deeper into the production cycle and start profiling and shaping the cane by ourselves.
That was a challenge and it took a lot of trail and error to finally master the process and be able to achieve the needed quality. Our profiled and shaped canes are not only better foundation for the DUKOVREEDS bassoon blanks but are also very well accepted by our clients and people who do their own reeds.
2011 GAUGING
The gauging was the next logical step.
Even though it is very labor intensive soon it was part of our end to end process.
Thus, currently we have closed the production cycle for bassoon blanks. We start with bassoon canes in tubes and finish with our DUKOVREEDS bassoon blanks.
2013 THE E-BAY STORE
In 2013 we launched our E-bay experiment!. We started with a few types of bassoon reed blanks and soon after that we created the store. The way we were accepted by our customer on E-bay gave us wings!
We realized this can actually work !!!
2015 THE MACHINES
I guess that in 2015, CHALLENGE, CHANGE and DETAIL were ¨in the air¨ because it was at that time that we got interested in creating our own handmade machines.
We were looking for ways to optimize some of the operations.
We played engineers in our free time and had some very satisfying results.
Today we use a mixture of our own developments and professionally built machines in order to be able to produce at the quality expected.
2018 OUR OWN SITE
And this is how we got to open DUKOVREEDS - our OWN STORE!
This is a huge milestone because we finally get to present ourselves to the world.
